Infectious Disease Appointment and Lyme Disease

Infectious Disease doctors (outside of the Northeast) are basically babbling idiots when it comes to Lyme. They are really the HIV/Hepatitis people. They see people in horrible states of decay each a day and to many of them Lyme seems silly in comparison. But that is just because of a lack of knowledge about Lyme Disease. Infectious disease in Raleigh is more useless than most. Not only do they not understand the disease but they will actively make fun of you for suggesting that you have it. Don't waste your time with them and seek out a specialist in Lyme Disease. Contact your local ILADS chapter and they can get you pointed in the right direction. You wouldn't discuss an OBGYN issue with a Neurologist so why talk to a non Lyme specialist about Lyme? Lyme is a very specific disease the requires a unique tool set not possessed by most doctors.

Note that Lyme disease blood tests are not accurate for 30 to 90 days after taking antibiotics so don't waste your time with a Lyme test. It even says this on the bottom of the Western Blot test forms but few doctors bother to read the forms. However at a minimum get your infectious disease doctor to test you for these other tick born diseases. You will have to insist. If your tests come back positive for the others you have at least established that you where bitten by a tick. Infectious disease can get you started on treatment but you will need to see a Lyme Doc to get a full course of the correct medication. ( 8 months to 2 years ) Test through these labs: Quest, Igenex or Clongen. I used Clongen

DO NOT Test through LabCorp. Waste of time and money - don't settle for LabCorp - find a doctor that will test at the right lab. Most insurance plans will allow a doctor to use Quest. You must get a test that is "read out". In other words it describes the reactive nature of each bar on the test.

If a doctor tells you that Lyme does not occur in a particular area of the country they are misguided. International and domestic travel means that people can get infected in a place that is not their home residence. Additionally Lyme is on the 'rise' which mean cases of Lyme are showing up in places where it was previously unreported. It has been declared and epidemic for this reason.

Lastly Lyme and other tick borne disease CAN NOT be treated by silver colloidal, exotic homeopathic remedies and Rife Machines. The body will not heal itself no matter what you try. In every epidemic in history there are profiteers. So be very careful. These tick borne diseases require antibiotics and anti-parasitics. They are not treated in 30 days or less.
